SEO function optimization: Sitemap function explanation
A newly established website can be regarded as an island. Once you have established it, it does not mean that there will be people flow in automatically.
So how do you let strangers know about your newly created website and browse it?
Although there are many marketing channels that can get you the first batch of traffic, if we now only look at the organic traffic channel:
Organic Traffic refers to the traffic that clicks into the website from the search results page on the major search engines such as Google/Yahoo/Bing/Baidu .
This is the so-called Organic Traffic .
There are a lot of technical terms mentioned above, but this is the most important one: the search result page .
You will now want to ask: How can my newly created website rush to the first page of the search results in the shortest possible time and be ranked first?
First of all, if your website wants to be displayed by Google in search results, you must first let Google know that the website exists. The following two simplest and most effective ways are introduced:
(1) External links
You can link to the new website from the existing web resources, so that Google may crawl to your new website and grab the information on the website.
You can connect to your website by adding a link from the long-established Facebook page, Instagram page, or blog platform,
In this way, search engines can quickly and effectively let search engines know the existence of this new website and start crawling the pages on it.
Another effective external link is to create an account from Google Merchant/Google My Business and connect to your website.
In this way, when searching for your brand, users can not only find physical stores, but also directly see links to the website (user experience + search engine optimization with one stone, two birds with one stone!)
You may want to ask why this works? Imagine if your website www.onlinestore.com has just been established,
But without any existing website resources connected to this new website, it will be like an island,
No one can reach that isolated island. But if you start to do external links,
Like sharing on FB, doing PR to get links to news websites, and linking to blogs, this is like opening three new undersea tunnels to this isolated island.
This will quickly allow Google to discover this new island and display it on the search results.
(2) Submit Sitemap
The other most direct method is the focus of this introduction, submit a Sitemap!
Submitting a Sitemap/Sitemap in Google’s webmaster tool is equivalent to telling Google that there are these pages on your website, so please come and take a look.
Submitting a Sitemap will allow Google to know which pages are on the site more quickly and effectively.
What keywords do those web pages correspond to, and then display these retrieved web pages on the search results in the future.
If you do (1) External links are like opening a new undersea tunnel to an isolated island,
Submitting a Sitemap is like giving a map to Google to let Google know that this island exists.
And some places (web pages) on the island are very useful and can be displayed to search users.
I hope that the simple introduction above can let SEO novices understand the basic concepts of online resources/SEO,
So as to better expose the website and get more organic traffic. Here is a brief introduction to Shopline's new Sitemap function!
Shopline sitemap enhanced version
The old version of the Sitemap function only displays links in the main directory of the website, rather than all the pages in the entire website.
This is not the fastest way for Google to retrieve all the resources of the website, and some of the resources are relatively low.
Pages with few external links may not be retrieved by Google at all, and those that have not been retrieved will not be displayed on the search results page.
But the new version of the site map is different. The new version of the site map will record all website resources,
Including: product page, category page, advanced page. This will let Google know all the pages on your website!
How to submit a site map
Shopline will automatically help shop owners to create their own website maps/sitemaps for their online stores.
You can log:. Www your domain .com / sitemap.xml to see.
If you want to submit a sitemap, you can choose to submit it in the Google webmaster.
However, you must register a Google webmaster (Google Search Console) account before submitting the sitemap.
step one
Log in to your Google webmaster page and select "Sitemaps" in "Crawl".
Step two
Enter sitemap.xml and click "Submit Sitemap".
You have successfully submitted the "Sitemap" to Google, then wait for your web page to slowly appear on the search engine results!
